Edge Switch Upgrade

To follow this guide, your system must be running OneView software version 4.3.0-114 or newer. 
 

Overview

Although most customers will never need this functionality (all of our Edge Switches will work with the software they have been shipped with), if a software upgrade is required, it can be done in bulk, without having to manually upgrade each Edge Switch one at a time.

Files

Download the files from the Edge Switch upgrade files page.

Navigate to the upgrade window

On the "Edge Switches" page, click on the "Upgrade" button, which is just above the list of edge switches.

Upgrade switches

1. Select the model of switch to upgrade. Only online switches are available.

2. Select the switches to upgrade. Once again, only online switches will be listed.

3. Choose the new software file and then click the 'Start Upgrade' button.

4. You will now see the upgrade progress view. Switches will transition through the following stages:

Not Started > Started > Rebooting > Successful

In a Spectra system, all switches will transition to "Started" almost immediately, since all upgrades will be done simultaneously. However, in a Hybrid system, switch upgrades will begin with the furthest Edge Switch from the Aggregation Switch and move towards it.

The "Cancel Upgrade" button can be used to cancel upgrades on any switches that are still in the "Not Started" state, but any upgrades that have already begun cannot be cancelled.
