To follow this guide, your system must be running OneView v4.3.0-114 or newer software.
Navigate to the Port Mirror settings
1. Open the Edge Switch detailed view by clicking on the "More" button, which is at the far right.
2. Click on the "Ports" tab of the detailed view and click on the square.
3. A new popup will open for "Port Mirror" configuration.
Configure a Port Mirror
1. Select the Target Port.
The Target Port is where the mirrored traffic from the Source Ports is sent to. If you are trying to capture traffic from the Source Ports (e.g. BACnet IP) with a capture tool (e.g. Optigo's CT-BAC-IP), you would connect the tool to the Target Port.
2. Select the Source Ports.
Select as many Source Ports as are available on your Edge Switch, however the Target Port must not be in the Source Ports list. Traffic from the selected Source Ports will be mirrored to the Target Port.
3. Select what traffic you want to mirror (rx, tx, or both).
If you aren't certain about what traffic you are trying to capture, we recommend these rules:
- If you only have one source port, select "both".
- If you have multiple source ports, select "rx only"
Received traffic (rx) goes into a switch port from another device and transmitted traffic (tx) is sent out of a switch port to another device.
Example #1 (both):
Your Edge Switch has an IP camera connected to port 1, which is streaming video to an NVR that's connected somewhere else on your OT network (i.e. to a port on a different switch). Set your Source Port as 1 and mirror "both" kinds of traffic (rx and tx). All traffic between the IP camera and the NVR will now be present at the Target Port.
Example #2 (rx only):
Your Edge Switch has an IP camera connected to port 1, which is streaming video to an NVR that is connected to port 2 on that same switch. Set your Source Ports as 1 and 2 and mirror "rx only" traffic. All traffic between the IP camera and the NVR will now be present at the Target Port.
4. Once your settings are configured, click on the "Set Mirror" button.
Your configuration will be saved and the switch will begin mirroring traffic at the Source Port(s) to the Target Port.
IMPORTANT:
You can only set one mirror instance per switch. Making another configuration and clicking "Set Mirror" again will overwrite the old setting.
Delete a port mirror
You can delete the mirror port setting using the button in the right-most column. This will remove the setting and the switch will stop mirroring traffic.
Viewing other edge switch settings
From any Edge Switch's detailed view, you can see all other port mirror settings on the system. You may delete any mirror port configuration on any Edge Switch, but you can only configure a mirror port on the current Edge Switch.
