The System → RSSI page displays the list of Edge Switches with the corresponding receive and transmit signal strength for each switch's PON transceiver (ONS-CX-SFP) and the receive signal strength of the ONS-S8's PON transceiver (ONS-SX-SFP).
(NOTE: This page is only available when configured as a Connect Spectra™ system)
Rx Power is an RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator), which is a measurement of the amount of light received by the Edge Switch's PON transceiver (ONS-CX-SFP) from the ONS-S8's PON transceiver (ONS-SX-SFP). The ONS-CX-SFP supports a maximum RSSI of -3 dBm and a minimum RSSI of -27 dBm.
Tx Power is a TSSI (Transmitted Signal Strength Indicator), which is a measurement of the amount of light transmitted by the Edge Switch's PON transceiver (ONS-CX-SFP) to the ONS-S8's PON transceiver (ONS-SX-SFP). The ONS-CX-SFP is expected to have a TSSI between 0 and 4 dBm.
ONS-S8 Rx Power is similar to the Rx Power column, but is a measurement of the combined amount of light received by the ONS-S8's PON transceiver (ONS-SX-SFP) from the PON transceivers (ONS-CX-SFP) of all of the Edge Switches that are optically connected to it. While this reading is less accurate, and is the same for all Edge Switch's connected to a specific ONS-S8's optical port (OPT 1 - OPT 8), it can still be useful for troubleshooting fiber issues.
The following models do not support RSSI readings:
- ONS-C810p
- ONS-C2401p
- ONS-C4801p
