Unboxing and Hardware Setup (Spectra Only)

Although each site will vary, at the bare minimum, a Connect Spectra™ installation will consist of the following:

• Network Controller (ONS-NC600)
• Spectra Aggregation Switch (ONS-S8)
• Edge Switches (e.g. ONS-CR2440XP, 1 or more, as required by the network design)
• AC Power cables (1 for the ONS-NC600, 2 for the ONS-S8, 1 per Edge Switch)
• Serial console cables (1 unique cable per device)
• Rack mounting hardware (1 pair for every rack-mounted device)
• Spectra Aggregation Switch SFP (ONS-SX-SFP, 1 for each ONS-S8 OPT port connection)
• Edge Switch SFP (ONS-CX-SFP, 1 for each Edge Switch)
• PON splitters (ONS-Yab-##-d, 1 or more, as required by the network design)
• PON couplers (ACC-CPL-SC,  1 per splitter connection)
• Software License (ONS-SW-100P, 1 license included for first 100 ports. A license must be purchased per additional 100 ports)
  
  

ONS-NC600 and ONS-S8

The ONS-NC600 is intended to be mounted in a server rack directly above the ONS-S8, which is how it is depicted in Optigo's user documentation. However, if cable routing requirements on the ONS-S8 make this inconvenient, you can mount the ONS-NC600 below the ONS-S8 or even a few rack spaces away. We do recommend that you keep them in the same rack though, if practical.


Edge Switches and Fiber

Ideally, before configuring your Connect Spectra™ system with Optigo's OneView software, all Edge Switches (e.g. ONS-C2440XP, ONS-C2401p, ONS-C810p, etc) should be installed in their intended locations and powered up, but with no OT devices (e.g. VAV controllers, cameras, etc) connected to them.

The fiber network (fiber cables, splitters, and couplers) should be installed and connected to all of the Edge Switches via ONS-CX-SFP's plugged into the Edge Switches' OPT ports.


IMPORTANT: 

• Until instructed to do so, do not connect any fiber cables to the to the ONS-S8's OPT ports.
  
  
• Do not uncap your fiber cables until you are ready to use them. 
  
  
• Ensure that you plug the correct SFP into the correct device.
  The ONS-SX-SFP only connects to OPT ports (OPT 1 - OPT 8) on the front of the ONS-S8.
  The ONS-CX-SFP only connects to OPT ports on Edge Switches (e.g. ONS-C2401p, ONS-CR2440XP, ONS-C810p, etc).
  
  
• Do not connect any OT devices (e.g. VAV controllers, cameras, etc.) to the Edge Switches until they have all registered in OneView™ (see next section).
