Although each site will vary, at the bare minimum, a Connect Hybrid™ installation will consist of the following:
- Network Controller (ONS-NC600)
- Hybrid Aggregation Switch (one of: ONS-C401i, ONS-C801pi, ONS-C810p, ONS-CD0840GP, ONS-C2401p, ONS-CR2420GT, ONS-CR2440XP, or ONS-C4801p)*
- Edge Switches (e.g. ONS-CR2440XP, 1 or more, as required by the network design)
- AC power cables (1 for the ONS-NC600, 1 for the Hybrid Aggregation Switch, 1 per Edge Switch)
- Serial console cables (1 unique cable per device)
- Rack mounting hardware (1 pair for every rack-mounted device)
- Hybrid SFPs (e.g. ONS-CU-SFP, 2 per switch, including the Edge Switches and Hybrid Aggregation Switch)
- Software License (ONS-SW-100P, 1 license included for first 100 ports. A license must be purchased per additional 100 ports)
*NOTE: Hybrid Aggregation Switches are simply Optigo Edge Switches configured as such by OneView
ONS-NC600 and Hybrid Aggregation Switch
The ONS-NC600 is intended to be mounted in a server rack directly above the chosen Hybrid Aggregation Switch. However, if cable routing requirements make this inconvenient, you can mount the ONS-NC600 below the Aggregation Switch or even a few rack spaces away. We do recommend that you keep them in the same rack though, if practical.
Edge Switches and Connections
Ideally, before configuring your Connect Hybrid™ system with Optigo's OneView software, all of the Edge Switches (e.g. ONS-C2440XP, ONS-C2401p, ONS-C810p, etc) should be placed in their intended locations.
All of the Edge Switches should be connected together via Optigo-approved SFPs (e.g. ONS-CU-SFP), using copper, multimode fiber, or a mix of both. For a typical daisy-chain topology, the 'OPT' port of every new Edge Switch in the chain should be connected to the 'OPT-R' port of the switch before it, all the way up to the first Edge Switch in the daisy chain, the one connected directly to the aggregation switch.
IMPORTANT:
- Always insert all of the SFP modules required by your Hybrid system before applying power to the equipment they're plugged into.
- Do not power up the Aggregation Switch or any of the Edge Switches until instructed to do so.
- Do not connect the Aggregation Switch to the Edge Switches or the Edge Switches to each other until instructed to do so.
- Do not connect any OT devices (e.g. VAV controllers, cameras, etc.) to the Edge Switches until they have all registered in OneView™ (see next section).
