An Optigo Connect™ system is comprised of two primary components:
- Management equipment, such as the Network Controller (ONS-NC600) and Aggregation Switches (ONS-S8 for the Optigo Connect Spectra™ solution or ONS-C401i, ONS-C801pi, ONS-C810p, ONS-C2401p, ONS-CR2440XP for the Optigo Connect Hybrid™ solution).
- Edge Switches, such as the ONS-CR2440XP, ONS-C2401p, ONS-C810p, ONS-C401i, etc.
These components are then connected and configured into one of Optigo's two OT network solutions: Connect Spectra™ (single-mode fiber only) or Connect Hybrid™ (using copper and/or fiber).
In a Connect Spectra™ system, management of the OT network is done via Optigo's OneView™ software, which runs on the ONS-NC600. The ONS-NC600 is connected, via a single Ethernet cable, to the ONS-S8, which then handles all other network connections (e.g. routers, core switches, BMS, NVR, etc) and connects to all of the network's Edge Switches via any combination of eight dedicated PON (passive optical network) ports. The ONS-S8 Aggregation Switch's optical ports (OPT 1 - OPT 8) are all rated at 1 Gbps and require Optigo's ONS-SX-SFP modules to connect them to the PON network's single-mode fiber cables. Each of the Edge Switches in a Connect Spectra™ system require one of Optigo's ONS-CX-SFP modules to connect to the PON network, and they can be connected to the ONS-S8 either directly, to a single OPT port (home-run), or as part of a group, through passive optical splitters (tree). The latter topology is very well-suited to large sites and retrofits with limited space for cabling, which makes Connect Spectra™ a clear choice in those circumstances.
In a Connect Hybrid™ system, Optigo's OneView™ software still handles management of the OT network, but instead of being connected to an ONS-S8 Aggregation Switch, the ONS-NC600 is connected to a supported Optigo Edge Switch (e.g. ONS-C810p) which has been configured as a dedicated Aggregation Switch. The Aggregation Switch is then connected, using Ethernet or fiber, to all of the Edge Switches in the OT network using a daisy-chain topology. This works well for small to medium OT networks. Please note that all segments of the daisy-chain must be connected using SFPs (e.g. Optigo's ONS-CU-SFP) that are suitable for Connect Hybrid™ systems (not the ONS-CX-SFP or ONS-SX-SFP).
In Optigo OneView™, users manage their Connect Spectra™ and Connect Hybrid™ systems in much the same way, configuring VLANs, disabling ports, resetting PoE, and the like. However, some features (e.g. Lasers, Bandwidth, RSSI) are omitted with Hybrid systems, because they are not applicable.
