Overview
The "Gap in MSTP Device Addressing” diagnostic fails when Optigo Visual Networks detects a gap in device addresses on an MSTP network.
Why it fails
-
Suboptimal Device Address Configuration: Master devices were either not configured in sequential order, or were not reconfigured following a change in network configuration.
Implications
-
Data Latencies: The BACnet standard mandates that every gap in device addressing forces a Poll-For-Master (PFM) every 50 token passing cycles, which can cause communication delays.
How to Fix it
Use OptigoVN Site Scope(s) to identify the gaps in device addressing on an MSTP network, then reconfigure those devices to be in sequential order.
