Overview
The "Excessive Token Hold Time” diagnostic fails when Optigo Visual Networks detects a device with an average standard deviation token hold time greater than 500ms. This means a master device may not have enough time to communicate all of its messages before passing the token, resulting in latent communications, or messages not being communicated at all.
Why it fails
- Too Many Messages: A master device may be trying to communicate too many messages to other devices on the network.
Implications
- Data Latencies: Delayed communications may result in messages being delayed, and slower networks.
How to fix it
Use OptigoVN Site Scope(s) to identify devices with excessive token hold times. Then increase the max_info_frame to flush out the buffer, and/or reduce the amount of messages being initiated by the device.
