What is an OT network?

In the context of smart buildings, the OT (Operational Technology) network consists of elevators, lighting, HVAC, power meters, surveillance, access control, intercoms and fire alarms – essentially anything bolted to the building. As these devices become more networked with Internet Protocol, that makes it possible to consolidate IT and OT networks. However a separate OT network can be optimized for the needs and safety of operational technology devices, services and technologies as the needs of each network is different.
