Why is it important for the building automation industry to be aware of bandwidth for IT and OT networks?

The vast majority of OT services don’t use much bandwidth, with the exception of CCTV video. Despite using low bandwidth, the importance of the messages is high - it is critical that video, HVAC, elevators and other OT technology be able to communicate on the network. If your OT devices share a network with IT, critical communications could be affected a peak times. Unfortunately peak usage is unpredictable, and often occurs when OT devices are critical, such as during a sports game in a stadium.
