In Optigo OneView, a Troubled port is one that has had an excessive amount of link status change (online / offline) in a short period of time. Optigo OneView will automatically suppress future notification associated to this port to avoid flooding the alert notification panel.
Link status notifications can be re-enabled by clicking the Refresh button.
More specifically, a port with 10 link status events (link up followed by link down is 2 events) within 20 minutes is deemed a troubled port.
The common cause for Troubled ports are:
- Faulty Ethernet cable causing the device to lose network connection intermittently.
- Faulty power supply causing the device to lose network connection intermittently (it is possible for power spikes to cause loss of network connectivity without causing the device to completely shutdown or reset).
- Excessive traffic (particularly broadcast packets) to a device causing its internal processor to lock up and reset. This is also known as a Denial of Service (DOS) Attack.
